why am I blogging? oh yeah, 'cos typing's easier than handwriting + very few people will ever have the opportunity to read/comment on what I've written on a notebook in my nightstand. also, "journaling" apparently makes people happier. we'll see...

I'm not sure if this makes me sad or scared...

Both, I think.

Two Boston-area fathers have invented and are marketing and selling bullet-proof back-packs called My Child's Pack. They retail for approx $175 each and will be available in a few weeks - when school starts.

I'd like to think that this is a good idea, I just can't help but wonder if it isn't selling people a false sense of security... what happens when a kid who has one of these packs is shot and it doesn't perform as expected? Are the inventor's culpable because they claim “We have tested and tested this product and we are very excited about it. We researched every school shooting since 1900 and found that our product is resistant to 97 percent of all bullets used,”...

Who holds the responsibility if a group of children decide to "test" it out at home with a parent's gun, and it goes horribly wrong? I really do not want to watch these stories on the 11 o'clock news, do you?
